Cook on Costs: - (His Honour Judge Cook) Butterworth £48 ISBN 406 98127-2 "This authoritative but eminently readable book thoroughly examines and explains all statutes, rules and regulation governing costs. It is comprehensively structured to cover the qualification of contentious and non-contentious, solicitor and client, party and party, matrimonial and civil legal aid costs".

Willing Blindness: - OSS Complaints handling procedures Research Study No 37 by Richard Moorhead, Sarah Rodgers and Professor Avrom Sherr of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, London. Available from the Law Society for £10 plus £1 p&p.The Report disclosed the appalling way complaints were being dealt with at the OSS. Richard Moorhead, head of the Institue, called for a champion of legal services users.

Ogdens: - Principles of Practice and Pleading in the High Court

Contract Law: -by Professor Richard Stone, Lecture notes, Cavendish Publishing. Now seems to be replaced by "Principles of" series at £16. Straigtforward and relatively easy to understand as written for students.

NB. Some of these Reports are free. Telephone the OSS to ask for copies.

NB. The library in the Royal Courts of Justice is open to members of the public. The staff are helpful and it is an excellent library for law books. It is in the block behind the main building.

Clerks to the Courts have been found to be helpful with regard to procedure when preparing for the taxation of bills.

Members have also found the CASIA news letters, which average four a year, to be helpful.
